Fieldwork

Several people warned us that at the beginning of rainy season, it wouldn't be possible to carry on our language lessons as usual. Most of the people in the village work in the field and have to prepare their fields.

So, since beginning of June we have stopped our language lessons with the pastor. I've have done some work around the house and listened to recordings in Monkolé. Hilary is busy preparing the next stage of our language learning.

But language and culture learning is also about becoming part of the community and participating in the community. So last Thursday morning we have done something more practical. We have been in the field with the lady who helps with housework. She was planting peanuts and we helped her.

So a couple of pictures to explain:

Planting the seed in a little hole in the soil

Covering the seed with soil
We now just hope that what we've done will succeed!
